On the week of March 23-29, 2014, CSUN Jishin Taiko had gotten involved in several different exciting things! All in one week! First off, on Monday, Jishin hosted Cal Poly Ponoma's Touzan Taiko for a joint practice. On Tuesday, Jishin went to Asano Taiko US in Torrence, CA for an open jam session with visiting collegiate taiko group Stanford Taiko. Finally, on Saturday, Jishin competed in a friendly competition of The Matsuri Crashers Battle: March Madness Edition against UCSD's Asayake Taiko, also at Asano Taiko US in Torrence, CA. Unfortunately, Jishin lost to Asayake. Final score: JISHIN 1-ASAYAKE 3. Go to the videos section of the blog to catch all of the action! Hope you enjoy these awesome vids! On the bright side, Jishin raised a lot of money in that event, over $700! And it all go towards the Intercollegiate Taiko Conference happening at CSUN on Memorial Day Weekend! What a difference one week makes! The post says it all. Congrats to the select few people who became the newly performing members and the future of Jishin Taiko! We at Jishin Taiko are extremely proud of all of you! For those of you that auditioned and didn't make the cut, don't worry. There are plenty of opportunities in the future that you can showcase your skills in hopes of becoming a performing member for Jishin Taiko. Have faith, work hard, stay strong, stay positive, and never give up! You will eventually get there someday!

We would like to thank The Claremont Colleges Psyko Taiko and Touzan Taiko for a great joint practice this past Saturday. We had so much fun making great music and getting to know all of you! We hope to see you all again very soon!

So far this school year, we've held a few fundraisers in hopes of reaching our financial goals that will help us host the Intercollegiate Taiko Conference this upcoming Memorial Day Weekend right here at CSUN! For instance, we've sold many CDs back in November 2013 as well as a whole sleuth of tacos back in October 2013. In addition, we're asking local businesses all over the Northridge area to help support and sponsor us by contributing/giving us their various financial amounts that will help us reach our financial goals and make hosting the ITC at CSUN become a reality. Even though we're making progress, we appreciate all of your contributions. And with that, we say thank you! We greatly appreciated it!

This past Friday, Valentine's Day 2014, and Monday, February 17, 2014, a small group of general members of this awesome group, about 9 people in total, have auditioned in hopes of becoming a performing member of this awesome group! We just want to say good luck to all of the general members who are auditioning to become performing members! Break a leg! You know who you are! We are so very proud of you!

On Sunday, November 10, 2013, CSUN Jishin Taiko performed the song Studio Matsuri at the CSUN VSA's Northridge By Night Talent Show. On Friday, February 7, 2014, it was our New Member Orientation for the Spring 2014 Semester! It happened at Cypress Hall, home of the CSUN Music Department, in Room 145 from 7:00-9:00 PM. That event was absolutely FREE! Free refreshments, free performances, free workshop, FREE EVERYTHING!!!!! And just like last semester's New Member Orientation that we hosted, we've seen a small group of fresh faces who are willing to learn about the background history of this awesome group and taiko in general as well as learning how to play the taiko for the very first time! Thanks so much to everyone who came out to the Spring 2014 New Member Orientation that happened on that day! We hope that you had so much fun hanging out with the members as well as seeing some performances and hitting the taiko for the first time! It was a great turnout to the event and we gladly appreciated it!

Thanks so much to everyone who came out to get to know us and our club at the CSUN Meet the Clubs Days! We greatly appreciated it. We have gotten so many signatures from people who are really interested in learning more about our club! We're looking forward to recruiting more new members in the upcoming future semesters here at CSUN!
