Intercollegiate Taiko Invitationals!

Thursday, May 26, 2011

Woo! We are so excited for the Intercollegiate Taiko Invitational. :D The host this year is UCLA's Yukai and Kyodo. Come out on Saturday and Sunday night to watch all the participating taiko groups perform, including us! :D
17th Annual Intercollegiate Taiko Concert info.

Edit: Tiring weekend of walking and workshops, but had a blast mingling with all the other taiko groups and workshop leaders there! Our performance, although only one song (Yamabiko), was successful and received praise from those who barely knew who we are as a collegiate taiko group. :) Thanks to Philip, Blaine, Arisa, and Ai for performing as members/alumni members of Jishin Taiko! <3 Congrats to all the groups that performed; both concerts were great. Can't wait to see you all again at next years Invitational hosted by Stanford!

Jishin SPRING CONCERT 2011

Edit: ~Thank you for those who came out and supported us! Our annual spring concert is done for our family, friends, and fans. ;) None of our effort is worth it without you in mind.

"An Evening with Dr. Cornel West"

Friday, February 4, 2011

CSUN's brand new Valley Performing Arts Center presents Dr. Cornel West as key speaker to kick-off Black History Month. We were honored to have been chosen to perform for the opening ceremony in this event. The huge stage was overwhelming, but was a wonderful experience for our group.

CSUN Hockey Game

Saturday, January 29, 2011

This is one of our favorite events to perform for. We enjoy cheering on our school's hockey team. It's cold, but the energy from our excitement towards the game helps warm us up. ;)

Music Sheets & New Videos

Monday, September 20, 2010
Are you a taiko newb and want to progress?
<--Our warm up music sheets are now located on the left.
Those of you interested in joining Jishin Taiko can start by mastering our warm ups! :D So practice at home, while you're walking, while at a stop sign, waiting for a long line at a restaurant or restroom, etc. Looking silly is just a risk you're going to have to take. Just don't hurt yourself in the process or you'll be no good to us. :P Ganbatte!~

By the way, our 2010 Spring Concert videos are also up in the video section of this site. Be sure to check those out as well.

New Practice Schedule

Monday, August 23, 2010
Practices will now be three days! Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Same time: 7pm-10pm. Try to make it to as many as possible! :)

Orientation Day (Friday, September 3)

Wednesday, August 18, 2010
We hope everyone had a great summer! A new semester is finally here. Time to get down to Taiko business. :D All who are interested in joining this year are welcome to our 2nd annual orientation day! It will be held in our Taiko practice room (Cypress Hall, room 145) on Friday, September 3 starting at 7pm. There will be refreshments and an introduction on who we are and what we do. Afterwards, we will have a small performance for you all, including a short tutorial you may participate in on our specific way of playing. Don't miss your chance to mingle with our members and others interested in becoming a member! We all hope to see YOU there. :)

Edit:
We'd like to thank all who came to our orientation day! There was a great turn out of people interested and we hope many of you return! :) For those who were not able to make it, but still wish to check us out, be sure to note down our practice days! You are very much welcome to come watch. Those in our mailing list will be contacted by us about it. We hope to see you around!~
